Bumblebees

Welcome to Bumblebees.

Your class teacher is Miss Reece

Your teaching assistant is Mrs Patterson.

Our topic this half term is 'Food Glorious Food' where we will be focusing on the story 'Handa's Surprise' by Eileen Browne.  Here our focus will be on exploring Hands's fruits, the animals in the story and Handa's community. We will this take the opportunity to  work on developing the children’s understanding of the world. This would involve both people and communities and the world itself.

We will be using a 'Mantle of the Expert' project to inspire pupils and support them in their return to school. This will support us in continuing to prioritise our children's emotional well-being and mental health by allowing them opportunities to build relationships and engage in collaborative learning. Our project 'Animal Park', will see us spending lots of time outdoors and looking at ways in which we can help and care  for animals.

We are keen for the children to develop a love of the outdoors and outdoor learning. With this in mind, we would be grateful if you could ensure that your child has a pair of wellies and outdoor waterproofs in school at all times.

Hello I am Miss Reece, the Reception teacher for Bumblebees class. I love the outdoors and enjoy sharing my passion for nature with the children. I am the Forest School leader for the school so we aim to get outside as much as we can. It is my great pleasure to be able to see your little children turn into school children supporting and sharing their journey with you. I hope you are going to enjoy being part of our Bumblebees family.

We are keen to encourage the children to develop a love of the outdoors and outdoor learning. With this in mind, we would be grateful if you could ensure that your child has a pair of wellies and outdoor waterproofs in school at all times.

Our PE day is on Thursday. Please can children come dressed in their PE kit on the day of the PE lesson, they can wear their school sweatshirt, joggers and pumps/trainers as for the first half term we will be doing outdoor PE.

When they have settled in, we will be encouraging the children to be as independent as possible. This ranges from encouraging them to come into class on their own, learning to do fastenings on shoes and coats and dressing themselves to being organised with their own personal belongings. We would be grateful for any steps you can take to support your child (and us!)  in this.

Your child will in due course begin to receive letters, tricky words and then reading books to bring home. Please practice these at home for 10 minutes every day. Please help your child put these in the allocated box for checking and changing every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

We are more than happy to have a chat with you about your child. Please feel free to come and see us whenever you need. If we can’t chat at the time, we will make arrangements so that we can do so as soon as possible.
