Welcome to our 'Hedgehogs' class page. Hedgehogs is one of two Year 3 classes. Last term, our exciting theme of 'Light and Dark' led us to explore 'light' in both science and art, and it took us to North America where we learned about its countries, animals, climate zones and time zones. We were fascinated to learn that some places in North America do not see any daylight in some months during the year. Our learning was brought to life with David Attenborough's programme about North America where we could see how some of the animals have adapted to suit their living environments and the harsh weather conditions in extreme climates. We will revisit North America in the Summer Term through our topic of Rivers and Mountains.
This term, we will take our learning to the prehistoric era of the Stone Age; we will explore the Stone Age animals and people and their everyday life, through being historians looking for evidence lying within a Stone Age box of artefacts, and visiting Craven Arms Discovery Centre. Our work in science will be closely linked as we look at bones and muscles, looking at the skeletons of Stone Age animals, and nutrition, where we will consider how Stone Age people worked as a community to get the nutrition they needed for survival. Further details about our work this term can be found on the 'overview' using the link below.
