Hedgehogs

Welcome to Hedgehogs Class

Hedgehogs class is one of two Year 4 classes, the other being Robins. We work closely together to provide a curriculum of rich learning opportunities and to prepare pupils for Upper Key Stage 2. In Lower Key Stage 2, the children are encouraged to become more independent in all areas of their learning and school life.
On this page you will find more information about learning experiences and useful links. Please visit our class page frequently as it will be updated on a regular basis so that you are able to access information to support your child as well as being kept up to date on all the forthcoming events your child may be involved in.

In Year 4, children are expected to be reading, practising spellings and times tables at home daily, and will be given additional homework which links in with either Topic, English or Maths. If children are struggling with their homework they are encouraged to speak to myself before it is due in so that they can be supported to complete it.

We hope you find this page informative but if there is something you feel we are missing please bring it to our attention.

Autumn Term Recap:

We had a truly wonderful first term together. We have had some amazing learning opportunities so far, including a sound walk to the park, creating our own buzz wire games and completing our own field study in Geography. We enjoyed our swimming sessions in the first half of the Autumn term, and the children made exceptional progress. We definitely have some budding swimmers in year four! Alongside this, who can forget our trip to the Pantomime?! A wonderful Christmas build up with quality together was the icing on top of the cake. I am so excited for the Spring term together.
Please continue to check your child’s Seesaw page where I continue to regularly upload key information and pictures of learning.
There’s a Spring in our step!

As we move into the Spring term, I am excited to move into a brand new topic! For the Spring term, we will be travelling back in time to the Roman Invasion of Britain! This is a truly immersive topic and one children continue to talk about in their future years. Furthermore, we will be looking at Volcanoes in Geography and how/why they erupt. To support our learning, we will be reading some exciting books this half term, but I won’t spoil those just yet!

The Spring term is predominantly made up of Easter Performance rehearsals and this year, we will be performing ‘Three Trees’. We are looking forward to working on this as a cohort and showing you all the children’s amazing talents.

This half term, we are joined by Miss Griffiths, a PGCE student from Chester University. You are likely to see her on the door in a morning and during dismissal. She is a fantastic student teacher and the children loved meeting her before Christmas. I am excited for the fantastic learning opportunities she will provide the children over the Spring term.

I hope you have had a wonderful Christmas break!
